LAKE WABAUNSEE PARK
RULES & REGULATIONS
The public areas of the Lake Wabaunsee Park are, for the most part, north of a line from the spillway to the East Bridge. Except as designated, consumption of alcoholic beverages, including cereal malt beverage, is prohibited. Sheriff officers and Eskridge City Marshall have police authority.
The destruction, injury, defacement, or removal of lake property is prohibited. This includes, but not limited to chopping of trees, shrubs, plants and the dumping of any material within the boundary of the Park. Trash containers are provided for use of campers in public areas. Lake residents must provide for their own trash pick-up service and not those designated for Park Use.
Building or starting fires in the open, or in any other place other than where grills or fireplaces are provided, is prohibited. Use of personal grills is encouraged.
Use of picnic shelters in the public area shall be on a first-come basis with a limit of four (4) hours per shelter. A camping fee may be charged for shelters used in excess of the four (4) hour limit. Clean-up of shelters after use shall be the responsibility of the user.
Swimming hours are from sunrise to sunset within the pool area in the public beach area. No person shall swim or wade in other waters. Operation of any boat, or fishing, is not permitted within the designated swimming area during swimming hours. Swimming is at swimmer’s risk. No life guard is provided.
Fishing permits are required for all persons fishing within the Park, ages 16-64. Lake fishing permits are not transferable, issued for the calendar year and proof of a valid state fishing license is required before being issued. One day and three day fishing permits are also available.
Fishing is permitted 24 hours a day, year round. Fishermen are subject to lake Creel limits and to State of Kansas fishing regulations.
Trout lines, set lines, bank lines, or limb lines are prohibited within the Park. The use of seines, traps or similar devices within the Park is prohibited. Landing nets of ¼ inch mesh or larger are permitted.

Bow-fishing within the Park is permitted consistent with State Statue, provided that such bow-fishing does not endanger or threaten others within the Park.
Scuba diving is permitted from sunrise to sunset, seven (7) days a week, in all areas of the lake except within the ski area on ski days. Proper markers will be displayed in accordance with laws set by the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.
All motor vehicles must be operated only upon designated roadways within the Park. Speed limit signs must be observed and obeyed.
Camping within the Park is by permit and within designated camping areas only. Unattended campers, vehicles, or tents should not be left in the picnic areas. Office operator has the authority to require removal of any camper from the Park for a reasonable length of time, or if it is determined to be in the best interest of the Park. Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted to camp unless accompanied by an adult.
BOATS & BOATING
All boats operated within the Park are subject to State Boating Statutes and Regulations. In addition, boat and motor permits are required to be placed on both sides of the boat under the State numbers prior to operation on the Lake waters. Holders of boat permits for the Lake must operate their boats in a safe and prudent manner. Operation of any boat or floating device on the Lake while the operator is intoxicated, or in a reckless manner, is prohibited. In such conditions, revocation of permit to operate a boat is possible. If a boat permit is revoked for any reason, the permit holder may be required to appear before the City Council in order to restore boating privileges.
Operation of boats in coves or within 100 feet of the shoreline shall be done at no-wake speeds. The boat permit holder shall not allow persons under 14 years of age to operate without the presence of a responsible adult in the boat. Boat permits are not transferable to another party and expire on December 31.
Boats of any kind must be launched from the boat ramp at the permit office only. Effective April 2008, all watercraft must be inspected every time prior to launching.
Sailboats are permitted upon the Lake if a permit is issued for the vessel.
Water skiing and Jet Skiing is permitted on Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to sunset. On Sundays, 12:00 noon to sunset.
Hunting is not permitted. No person shall molest or pursue wildlife within the Park. The only exception to this rule is by Council permission to trap beavers which are damaging trees. No person shall carry or have in his/her possession a firearm or air gun within the Park.

All boats must travel counter clockwise around the lake.
All permits on sale at the Permit Office at the beach area from April 1st to October 1st. Hours of operation will be 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday-Saturday.
